Alcohol

leave a comment »

I never understood why people are so attached to alcohol. It has always perplexed me how people enter college and all they want to do is party and drink. And I understand that people drink because its part of our culture. But what bothers me the most is why people have to abuse it?

I figure that is a question that I will have to discover as the year goes by. But at the same time I cant help wonder. Is it because more people are emotionally distressed? Stressed out? Is it the media? Or do people think that’s how it should be? Have we gotten to the point where we can not have fun unless alcohol is involved? Or is it just a social norm for us that eventually phases out?

I do know one thing, I will be going through my own fair share of crap when it comes to dealing with Alcohol.

Being Flexible

I noticed that one good trait for any manager to have is the ability to be flexible and multi-task. I realized this only a few moments ago when I called my dad to confirm the time I was going to go home for my Mom’s big birthday banquette.

Good thing I called him because he told me that the banquette was in fact on Sunday and not on Saturday. Funny how things are, because Sunday night is when our semi formal is taking place, and Sunday mid day is the big spring preview here at mason for all the prospective incoming freshman. So, as one can see this is a bit of an issue because now I need to find someone to take my spot for the morning preview and inform my date that I cant go to my own event. So being able to quickly think on your toes is defiantly a good skill for everyone.

So moral of this post, remember 90% of what ever is planned will change one way or another. What makes events successful is being able to adopt and go with the flow in the blink of a second.

My day that started after 5PM

leave a comment »

Today was quite an interesting day if I could say so myself taking into account that the following events occurred after 5PM today.

First off, our scribe was frantically attempting to contact everyone to get their G# (student identification numbers) so we could submit our academic grade rosters to Student Activities. Knowing that we missed the deadline I feel in the next day or so I will be receiving either a call or an e-mail demanding to know where our roster is. Ill keep you posted how it turns out … perhaps If I recored it it wont be as bad?

Moments later I received a text from one of our brothers telling us that we secured our “House” for next year. The reason why I have “House” in quotations is to emphases the law in fairfax that you can not have more then five people (non related) living in the same house known as the brothel law. I always questioned how in the world a house full of guys be called a brothel? Anyhow pictures of our new house can be found here. Quite a nice place if you ask me.

Moments later i got another text from a brother with the question “Are the awards for semiformal (this sunday) taken care of?” Realizing that I forgot 100% about them, does anyone know of a 24 hour engraving service?

So far two weeks into the job, its still really hard adjusting to the fact that I’m the head honcho … Son of a Bitch, I forgot to contact the Pledge Master.

Why The Blog?

leave a comment »

So right now I’m in my Government 300 class and even though I am only seven minutes into the class, I’m so board that I decided to stet up a blog. So why the blog? Well one I’m board out of my mind like none other, but at the same time, I started to notice that my life has become quite interesting in loue of recent events.

Two weeks ago, I was elected president of my college fraternity. And ever since my life has been quite an interesting ever since. So, I figured while my professor is talking about means, and bell curves I figured that my life is far more interesting then what is being taught. And so for the next year I decided I will blog frequently of my experiences, thoughts, and just anything else that is related to me being a college fraternity president.
